My name is Larry Fishman and I am running for Highland Supervisor.

I may not get to meet you personally before the election but I would like you to know a few things about me.
  • I am 61 years old.
  • I have been married for 37 years and have 3 children.
  • My wife, Shain, and I have been area residents for 25 years, full time since 1996.
  • Shain is the director and teaches at Highland Yoga & Dance in Highland Lake.
  • I have been in my own business for 37 years; I moved my business to Sullivan County in 1999.
  • What happens in Highland Township is very important to me. That’s why I am active in the town. I have been on the Highland Zoning Board of Appeals for over 15 years and I am currently Chairman.
As President and owner of my business I have had experience in every aspect of running a business including but not limited to:
  • Overall management and oversight
  • Budgeting
  • Employee relations and union negotiations
  • Construction and renovations through several expansions and relocations of my facilities
  • Marketing and public relations
  • Project development
I will bring my years of experience to the office of Supervisor in the following areas:
  • Budget—The town budget will be my primary concern. Spending tax dollars is a serious responsibility and spending oversight, competitive bidding and proper budgetary practices will be strictly followed. In addition, I will seek out all available grants so that Highland gets its fair share of State and Federal assistance.
  • Tax Assessment —It is imperative that we have fair and equitable tax assessments. If assessments are fair and the budget is a responsible one, your tax bill will reflect good government. I will oversee and work with the Assessor’s office to insure that no property is ever assessed at more than fair market value.
  • Open Government—I will conduct town business openly and in the light of day. Within the first 6 months of my taking office I will conduct an “open forum” to tap into the ideas and resources of our residents.
Highland is a beautiful town and living here is a privilege. As Supervisor I will work hard to maintain the rural character of our town while keeping its economy strong. If you have any questions about me or my views on town matters, please contact me at 557-3343 or info@thinklarry.com.

I would appreciate your support, but please remember, your support is not enough. You must get out and vote! If you need help getting to the polls on Election Day please call me by Friday, November, 2 at 557-3343.

Very truly yours,
Larry Fishman
